Abstract: The aim of this work is to propose a continuous-time mathematical model to study the dynamics of a population affected by smoking. Thus the population is divided into eight classes: Potential smokers (P),light smokers (M), heavy smokers (D), sick heavy smokers (S), heavy smokers who join public treatment centers, heavy smokers who join private treatment centers, sick smokers who go to hospitals for treatment (H),individuals who quit smoking permanently (R).
